Microbiology Laboratory Technician

ABOUT THE ROLE We are looking for a Laboratory Technician with microbiology experience to join Pinar Arabia at our UAE factory site. Guided by our core pillars of “Health for Generations,” “Respect for Planet,” and “Powered by People,” this role performs microbiological, chemical and sensory analyses of raw materials, intermediates, finished products, water and environmental samples. It supports food safety and quality control through accurate testing, environmental monitoring, documentation, investigation of microbiological deviations and well-maintained laboratory equipment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES CORE RESPONSIBILITIES Conduct microbiological analyses of raw materials, intermediates, finished products, water and environmental samples in line with established methods, procedures and specifications. Conduct chemical analyses of raw materials, intermediates and finished products, with particular focus on fat, dry matter, salt, moisture content and product texture. Prepare samples, microbiological media, reagents and materials required for laboratory testing. Organize and conduct sensory evaluations of product characteristics. Operate laboratory equipment and ensure appropriate maintenance and calibration. Ensure accurate measurements and test results, and maintain complete, traceable testing records and reports. Follow established laboratory procedures, protocols and quality control requirements. RESPECT FOR PLANET Ensure laboratory practices comply with HSE and company requirements. Identify and escalate equipment or laboratory-related issues so that resources and equipment are used safely and efficiently. HEALTH FOR GENERATIONS Conduct environmental monitoring and microbiological sampling in production and relevant facility areas. Interpret microbiological results and promptly escalate deviations or abnormal results. Support investigations into microbiological deviations and contribute to corrective and preventive actions. Monitor microbiological quality trends and ensure laboratory practices meet food safety and hygiene requirements. POWERED BY PEOPLE Work closely with QA/QC, Production, R&D and fellow laboratory team members. Communicate microbiological results, trends and food safety concerns clearly to QA/QC and other departments. Participate in internal and external audits, working with audit companies, external laboratories and service providers as required. QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology, Microbiology, Food Microbiology, Food Science, Biology or a related scientific discipline. Hands-on experience in microbiological laboratory testing (required). Knowledge of food technology, food microbiology and food safety requirements (required). Proven experience with microbiological testing methods, sample preparation, and media and reagent preparation. Experience in environmental monitoring and microbiological sampling. Track record operating, maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment, with accurate and traceable documentation. Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to prioritize multiple testing requirements and meet required timelines. Strong data recording, analysis and reporting skills; proficient in laboratory software and Microsoft Office. Working knowledge of English. Food industry laboratory experience preferred. Experience with chemical analyses (fat, dry matter, salt, moisture) and sensory evaluation is a plus. WHY JOIN US?
