Senior Electrical Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer with 7 to 10 years of experience to join a tier one main contractor in Abu Dhabi. In this role, you will lead the technical evaluation, design coordination, shop drawing development, and material procurement support for major electrical and MEP scope on large-scale rail and linear infrastructure projects. You will act as the technical bridge between design consultants, site execution teams, subcontractors, and local authorities. Key Responsibilities Submittals & Design Review: Manage, review, and finalize all electrical submittals, value engineering proposals, design reviews, and method statements to ensure full compliance with client requirements and contract specifications. Shop Drawings & BIM Coordination: Lead the engineering drafting team in producing, reviewing, and approving detailed shop drawings, single-line diagrams (SLDs), layout drawings, and cable route schedules using BIM/Revit to ensure seamless spatial coordination with structural, architectural, and MEP disciplines. Procurement & Commercial Support: Prepare material take-offs (MTO), bill of quantities (BOQ) verifications, technical bid evaluations (TBE), and compliance sheets for electrical equipment suppliers and subcontractors. Authority Approvals: Coordinate and secure necessary technical approvals from local UAE authorities (e.g., ADDC, Civil Defence, DOT/ITC) and international rail bodies. Site Execution & T&C Support: Provide direct engineering support to site execution teams, resolving Requests for Information (RFIs), technical queries, site non-conformance reports (NCRs), and supporting testing & commissioning (T&C) procedures for high/medium/low voltage systems. Subcontractor & Vendor Management: Oversee subcontractor technical compliance, progress reviews, and shop drawing deliverables to keep project milestones on track. Key Requirements Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university. Experience: 7 to 10 years of total experience in an engineering capacity. Proven track record with a Tier 1 Contractor/Consultancy on large-scale rail, metro, transit, or major infrastructure projects (e.g., depots, stations, tunnels, highways, power infrastructure). Technical Mastery: In-depth knowledge of Low Voltage (LV), Medium Voltage (MV), Extra Low Voltage (ELV), lighting, earthing/lightning protection, and traction power systems. Proficient with BIM / Revit / AutoCAD and electrical design calculation software (ETAP, Dialux, Amtech, or equivalent). Strong familiarity with international rail standards (NFPA, UIC, IEC, IEEE) and UAE local codes (ADDC, Civil Defence). Regional Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on project delivery experience within the UAE / GCC region.
