About Purple Ruler Schools have roughly a fifth of their pupils they cannot teach in a normal classroom: long-term absence, anxiety, exclusion, an EHCP the school cannot staff, a medical need. Their only two tools are to force the child back in or to move the child out. We are the third option: live online teaching that plugs into the school and keeps teaching that child while they stay on the school's own roll. We offer four services: Academy, for pupils out of school: stabilisation, attendance first. Blueprint, for a cohort the school cannot staff: curriculum-matched provision, a school within a school, built to send the child back. Compass, for SEND and EHCP pupils: one-to-one teaching against the plan. Distinction, for pupils who are behind or at exam point: academic catch-up and exam work. Our customers are UK schools, multi-academy trusts and local authorities, and a growing number of US districts and states. The role You will be the first person schools and trusts talk to when they want to place a child with us, and the person who turns that first conversation into a running contract. You will also grow those relationships into larger, long-term partnerships. You will work as part of a small commercial team covering schools, outbound and council tendering. We are not looking for a closer with ten years behind them. We are looking for someone organised, warm in writing and on the phone, who can learn a complicated product quickly and be trusted with real schools. No previous sales experience is needed, and full training is provided. What you will do Answer every enquiry fast. Every reply from a school, trust or council is answered within the hour it arrives. This is the most important rule in the business, and the one we measure. Run meetings and follow up the same day. Book and run discovery meetings, then send a follow-up the same day with the right service, the price, the login and the first enrolment step. Never "details to follow". Write and send proposals. Decide when a school needs a proposal, brief it, check it reads right, and send it. Keep the pipeline accurate. Every school you work with has a correct stage in our CRM, updated the same day and based on what the school actually did. Grow existing customers. Spot the school already using one of our services that would benefit from a second, and make that case. Look after customers when something goes wrong. Raise and follow through support tickets for complaints, scheduling clashes or attendance problems. Selling and looking after the customer are one job here. Support outbound and tenders. Suggest prospects for our outbound campaigns and pick up every reply they produce. Learn how council tenders work by supporting colleagues who run them. How you will work with AI Like every role at Purple Ruler, this role works hand in hand with AI across all of its responsibilities. AI does the routine production; you direct it, check it, and remain accountable for every result. You do not need previous AI experience. What success looks like After six months, you answer a school as well as our founder would, run meetings on your own, keep a pipeline that is accurate without anyone checking it, and schools ask for you by name. Who we are looking for Essential. Clear, plain, warm written English. You will write around thirty emails a day, and every one of them is the company talking to a head teacher. Comfortable on the phone with a stranger who is having a bad day. Organised to the point of being slightly obsessive: nothing dropped, nothing forgotten, records updated the same day. A genuine interest in children who are not in school, and why. Quick with software, and willing to learn a system by exploring it rather than waiting for a demo. Nice to have. Experience in schools. Any previous sales, account management, admissions or customer service work. We are explicitly open to people from teaching, school administration, SEND support or local authority work who have never held a sales title. Working hours: Mon - Fri, 8:45 am to 5:00 pm UK time (GMT0/GMT1) Location: This role is open to candidates based in South Africa or Dubai. Candidates based in Dubai will work on-site at our DMCC office. Show more Show less
