Financial Controller

We're Hiring: Financial Controller 💼 Baytonia is looking for a Financial Controller to own month-end close, controls, inventory accounting and compliance across our online, showroom and marketplace channels. 📌 Key Responsibilities Month-End Close & Reporting • Run a fixed monthly close calendar, with locked periods and sign-off for any post-close adjustment • Deliver monthly management accounts, including P&L by channel (online, showrooms, marketplaces) and contribution margin • Own the balance sheet: reconciliations, accruals, prepayments and provisions reviewed every month • Prepare board and investor reporting packs with the CFO Accounting Policies & Controls • Write and maintain the accounting policy manual: revenue recognition by channel, inventory valuation, accruals and cost allocation • Design and enforce internal controls, including segregation of duties across approval, recording and payment • Set data ownership rules so each reported number has one owner and a clear audit trail Inventory & Costing • Own inventory accounting across warehouses and showrooms: landed cost, stock counts, slow-moving stock and write-downs • Maintain product and channel costing, and support pricing with reliable cost allocation • Reconcile returns, refunds and damaged goods Cash & Revenue Reconciliation • Oversee reconciliations of payment gateways, BNPL providers, cash-on-delivery collections and marketplace settlements • Manage the supplier payment process and payment runs • Maintain the 13-week cash forecast with the CFO Compliance & Audit • Ensure compliance with ZATCA requirements, including e-invoicing (Fatoora), VAT and zakat • Prepare IFRS statutory financial statements and lead the annual external audit • Support financial due diligence for fundraising Budgeting & Analysis • Coordinate the annual budget and monthly budget-vs-actual reviews with each function • Provide variance analysis and flag margin or cost issues early Team & Systems • Lead, coach and set clear responsibilities for the accounting team • Improve the ERP set-up, chart of accounts and automation of routine work • Recommend team hires as the business grows ✅ Requirements • 8+ years in accounting and finance, including at least 3 years as a Financial Controller or Finance Manager leading a team • Experience in retail, e-commerce or another inventory-heavy business, with hands-on inventory costing and landed cost work • Strong knowledge of IFRS, Saudi VAT, zakat and ZATCA e-invoicing • A track record of building or fixing a month-end close and internal controls • Experience preparing for and leading external audits • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance • Professional qualification: SOCPA, CPA, ACCA or CMA • Advanced Excel and experience with a mid-market ERP (e.g. Odoo, NetSuite, SAP Business One or Microsoft Dynamics) • Fluent in English and Arabic ⭐ Nice to Have • Big 4 or audit-firm background • Experience in a venture-backed company, including fundraising due diligence • Omni-channel experience covering online, physical stores and marketplaces • Experience with payment gateways, BNPL and cash-on-delivery reconciliations 🤝 How You Work • Precise and process-driven, and comfortable holding a line when numbers are challenged • Hands-on: willing to do the work while building the team that will take it over • A clear communicator with non-finance colleagues Show more Show less
