Merchant Onboarding Specialist

A reputable financial technology company is seeking a high-caliber Merchant Onboarding Specialist to own the verification of every new merchant account, reviewing Commercial Registration documents and Ultimate Beneficial Owner declarations before go-live. Key Responsibilities Review Commercial Registration (CR) documents for accuracy and validity Confirm business details match official registry records Maintain organized documentation records for every merchant reviewed Review Ultimate Beneficial Owner (UBO) declarations and ownership structures Identify incomplete or inconsistent ownership disclosures Escalate complex ownership structures for further review Flag high-risk merchant profiles to the Compliance team Request additional documentation from merchants when gaps are found Track outstanding document requests through to resolution Manage the merchant onboarding queue against agreed SLA targets Keep onboarding records updated in the case management system Communicate onboarding status clearly to merchants and internal stakeholders Role Requirements Experience & Background Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance or a related field 2–4 years in merchant onboarding, KYB (Know Your Business), or operations compliance at a payments company, bank or fintech Hands-on experience reviewing CRs and UBO declarations is required Functional & Technical Skills Working knowledge of regional business registries Understanding of basic KYB and AML red flags Comfort managing high onboarding volume under SLA pressure Ability to identify inconsistencies in documentation without guidance Expert in Tools Onboarding and case management platforms Excel for tracking and reporting Microsoft Office and Google Workspace Soft Skills & Culture Very good English and Arabic Pay close attention to detail when reviewing documents Stay organized and manage a high volume of cases without delays Nice to Have Experience with UAE or GCC commercial registries specifically KYB software experience Experience working in a startup or scale-up delivery environment where processes are still being built Show more Show less
