Head Of Engineering

Job Summary: The Head of Engineering will lead and manage the engineering organization, ensuring the successful design, development, and delivery of high-quality, scalable software systems. This role encompasses strategic planning, technical leadership, team development, and cross-functional collaboration to drive innovation, operational excellence, and alignment with business objectives. The Head of Engineering will oversee multiple engineering teams, act as a bridge between senior leadership and technical teams and ensure that software architecture and development practices meet both current and future business needs. Key Responsibilities: · Define and communicate the overall engineering strategy, aligning technology initiatives with business goals and product roadmaps. · Oversee the design and implementation of scalable, high-performance, and secure software systems across multiple teams and projects. · Lead architectural and technical decisions for complex software systems, ensuring consistency, quality, and scalability across the organization. · Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices, and translate them into actionable strategies to maintain a competitive edge. · Evaluate, select, and integrate third-party technologies, platforms, and tools to improve development efficiency, product performance, and time-to-market. · Develop, enforce, and continuously improve coding, design, and architecture standards across the engineering organization. · Collaborate with product management, UX, DevOps, security, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions. · Act as the primary liaison between engineering teams and senior leadership, communicating technical decisions, trade-offs, risks, and progress effectively. · Provide leadership, mentorship, and career development for engineering managers, team leads, and individual contributors, fostering a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and accountability. · Oversee performance monitoring, system reliability, and operational excellence, ensuring high availability and optimal performance under increasing load. · Drive modernization and refactoring of legacy systems to improve scalability, maintainability, and technical debt management. · Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies related to system architecture, security, compliance, and operational performance. · Ensure security best practices are integrated across software systems, including data protection, authentication, and access control, and oversee regular security reviews. · Maintain comprehensive documentation of engineering practices, system architecture, design decisions, and technical standards. · Participate in strategic planning, budgeting, and resource allocation for the engineering organization. · Promote engineering excellence through technical governance, quality assurance, and adherence to industry standards and regulatory requirements. Qualifications & Experience: · Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field. · 10+ years of progressive engineering experience, including 5+ years in leadership or management roles. · Proven experience leading large, multi-disciplinary engineering teams and managing complex projects. · Strong technical expertise across software architecture, system design, and development practices. · Exceptional strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. · Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management capabilities. · Experience with budgeting, resource planning, and organizational development. · Familiarity with modern software development methodologies, DevOps practices, and security/compliance standards.
