About the Role As a Senior Data Engineer at Axis, you will design, build, and operate reliable data platforms and pipelines that support product development, business intelligence, financial operations, risk management, and customer experiences. You will work closely with engineers, product managers, analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to make high-quality data accessible, trustworthy, and actionable. This role requires someone who is technically strong, highly collaborative, comfortable working with large and complex datasets, and experienced in building scalable data solutions in a fast-paced fintech environment. Build and optimize data ingestion, transformation, storage, and integration processes across internal and external systems. Develop data models and curated datasets to support analytics, reporting, machine learning, and business operations. Collaborate with engineering, product, data, and business teams to translate requirements into reliable data solutions. Improve data platform performance, scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency. Implement data quality checks, monitoring, alerting, and data observability practices. Establish data governance, lineage, documentation, security, and access control standards. Contribute to data architecture decisions, technical design reviews, and long-term platform improvements. Proven experience designing and operating production-grade data pipelines and scalable data platforms. Strong programming skills in Python, Java, Scala, or similar languages, with advanced SQL proficiency. Solid understanding of relational and non-relational databases, data warehousing, data lakes, and analytical data modeling. Hands-on experience with distributed data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark or Flink. Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and modern data warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or Databricks. Strong understanding of ETL/ELT, batch and streaming processing, and data integration architectures. Familiarity with software engineering practices, including Git, code reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD. Experience implementing data quality, monitoring, and observability solutions. Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Skills Experience in fintech, financial services, payments, banking, SaaS, or startup environments. Exposure to financial transactions, ledger systems, customer data, fraud detection, risk management, or regulatory reporting. Experience with streaming technologies such as Kafka, Amazon Kinesis, Google Pub/Sub, or Apache Pulsar. Familiarity with tools such as dbt, Terraform, Kubernetes, and Docker. Knowledge of data governance, security, privacy, and regulatory compliance. Experience with modern data architectures, including data mesh, data contracts, and lakehouse architectures.
