Senior Backend Engineer (Node.js, Python, AWS)

The company is building out a platform that combines modern infrastructure, data-driven insights, and applied AI to transform how operators run their facilities. We’re looking for a Backend Engineer with deep cloud, data, and AI experience to join our engineering team. Role Description: This is a full-time remote role for a Senior Backend Developer. In this role you will design, build, and maintain scalable services, data pipelines, and APIs that support our core platform. You’ll work across infrastructure, data modeling, and AI-powered features—helping us deploy reliable and secure solutions that scale as we grow. Responsibilities: Architect, implement, and maintain backend services using Python and Node.js. Build and optimize deployment pipelines and CI/CD workflows for reliable releases. Design and manage infrastructure-as-code with Terraform on AWS (ECS, Lambda, RDS, SQS, etc.). Develop robust data models and manage relational data with SQL and Prisma ORM. Integrate and experiment with AI/ML libraries such as LlamaIndex, Hugging Face, LangChain, and others. Work on workflow orchestration for data and AI pipelines. Ensure high availability, scalability, and security of backend systems. Collaborate with frontend engineers, product managers, and data teams to deliver end-to-end solutions. Write clear documentation and contribute to best practices across the engineering team. Qualifications: 5+ years of backend engineering experience. Strong experience with Terraform and AWS. Proficiency in Python and Node.js. Deep knowledge of data modeling, SQL, and database schema design. Experience with Prisma ORM (or similar). Strong understanding of deployment pipelines and DevOps practices. Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Temporal, Prefect, or AWS Step Functions). Hands-on experience with AI frameworks/libraries: LlamaIndex, Hugging Face, LangChain, etc. Ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment, balancing pragmatism with technical rigor. Nice to Have: Experience with Snowflake for data warehousing and analytics. Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS).
