UI/UX Designer

Location: Onsite, Abu Dhabi, UAE Engagement: 12-month contract Level: Mid-level to Senior Relocation: Currently based in the UAE with a valid residence visa About the role We are hiring a UI/UX Designer for a high-visibility, AI-led product engagement with a marquee client in Abu Dhabi. This is not a production design seat. We need a designer who interrogates the problem before touching the canvas, challenges assumptions with evidence, and can defend design decisions in front of senior, demanding stakeholders. AI is central to both the product and the way this team works. You should be as comfortable designing for AI-driven experiences as you are using AI to move faster and think sharper. What you will do Frame ambiguous problems into clear user and business outcomes before proposing solutions Lead discovery: user research, stakeholder interviews, journey mapping and synthesis into actionable insight Design end-to-end experiences, from information architecture and flows to high-fidelity UI and interactive prototypes Design for AI-native interactions: conversational interfaces, copilots, agentic workflows, recommendations and generative outputs Solve the hard UX problems AI introduces: trust, explainability, uncertainty, error states, human-in-the-loop controls and graceful failure Build on, extend or establish a design system that scales across products and teams Partner closely with the Product Owner and engineering to shape scope, trade-offs and sequencing Present and defend design rationale to senior stakeholders, and change course when the evidence says so What you bring 5+ years in product design (UI/UX) for digital products, with a portfolio that shows thinking, not just screens Demonstrated critical thinking: you can show where you pushed back, reframed a brief or killed a feature because the data did not support it Strong command of interaction design, visual design, accessibility and responsive or multi-platform design Hands-on experience with multiple design systems (e.g., Material, Carbon, Fluent or bespoke enterprise systems) and the judgement to know when to follow or break them Expert-level Figma, including components, variables, auto layout and prototyping Comfort working in fast-paced, high-stakes, client-facing environments with senior audiences Excellent written and verbal communication in English AI proficiency (non-negotiable) We expect deep, practical fluency, not familiarity. You should be able to demonstrate: Designing AI products: shipped or substantially designed at least one AI-powered experience (LLM features, copilots, chat or agentic flows), with a working understanding of how models behave, where they fail and what that means for UX Using AI in your craft: routine use of AI tools to accelerate research synthesis, ideation, copy, prototyping and testing (e.g., Figma AI, ChatGPT or Claude, v0, Lovable, Cursor or similar) Rapid prototyping: ability to turn an idea into a working, clickable or coded prototype in hours, not weeks Judgement: knowing when AI output is good enough, when it is wrong, and how to validate it Good to have Experience in enterprise, regulated or large-scale transformation programmes Prior work in the UAE or wider GCC, with an understanding of regional users and stakeholders Exposure to consulting or client-side delivery environments Experience designing data-heavy dashboards or decision-support tools Arabic language skills, including RTL interface design How to stand out Share a portfolio with at least two case studies that show (1) how you framed the problem and what you challenged, and (2) how AI shaped either the product you designed or the way you designed it.
