About the Role We are seeking an experienced Director of Finance & People Operations to oversee financial management and human resources operations for a growing organization. This senior leadership position requires a strategic thinker with strong financial expertise, proven people-management capabilities, and the ability to build efficient systems that support business growth. The successful candidate will oversee finance and HR teams, establish clear performance standards, strengthen internal processes, and ensure both functions operate efficiently with minimal day-to-day supervision. This is a leadership role requiring expertise in both financial management and HR operations, not an individual contributor or generalist position. Key Responsibilities Finance Leadership Oversee financial reporting, month-end closing, account reconciliations, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll accounting. Lead budgeting, financial forecasting, cash-flow planning, and financial performance reviews. Monitor revenue, operating expenses, labor costs, and profitability. Establish and maintain strong internal controls, approval processes, and financial reporting standards. Identify financial risks, investigate budget variances, and recommend corrective actions. Improve financial reporting systems, dashboards, data accuracy, and operational efficiency. Present clear financial insights and actionable recommendations to senior leadership. HR & People Operations Lead and oversee HR operations, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, and offboarding. Develop workforce plans aligned with business objectives and staffing requirements. Establish structured recruitment processes, role scorecards, and measurable hiring targets. Oversee payroll coordination, benefits administration, leave management, and compliance processes. Develop performance evaluation systems, employee development plans, and accountability standards. Monitor HR metrics, including time-to-fill, offer acceptance, employee retention, and turnover. Support the development of compensation frameworks, promotion criteria, and career progression plans. Leadership & Process Improvement Lead, coach, and hold departmental managers accountable for performance and results. Establish clear KPIs, reporting routines, and departmental goals. Partner with leadership to improve financial performance, workforce planning, and operational efficiency. Identify organizational risks and provide evidence-based recommendations. Build independent, high-performing teams that can deliver results without constant supervision. Maintain strict confidentiality of financial, employee, and organizational information. Required Qualifications Significant experience in finance or accounting leadership, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash management, and internal controls. Proven experience leading managers and overseeing departmental teams. Strong working knowledge of HR operations, including recruitment, performance management, compensation administration, and employee relations. Experience managing financial operations and workforce processes in a growing or operationally complex organization. Strong financial analysis and business reporting skills. Advanced proficiency in spreadsheets and experience with accounting, HR, and reporting systems. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational abilities. Demonstrated ability to establish accountability and manage multiple functions independently. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field. Professional qualifications such as CPA, CMA, MBA, SHRM-CP/SCP, or equivalent credentials. Experience with accounting, HRIS, payroll, and business reporting platforms. A proven track record of improving financial reporting, cash-flow forecasting, operational efficiency, or employee retention. What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is a strategic and hands-on leader who can connect financial performance with workforce planning and organizational accountability. You should be comfortable challenging assumptions, improving existing processes, developing managers, and making data-driven recommendations that support business objectives. The ability to lead both finance and HR operations is essential. Candidates with expertise in only one of these functions will not meet the full requirements of the role.
