The English department delivers strong examination results across GCSE and A Level, with particularly notable outcomes in GCSE English Literature, A Level English Language and A Level English Literature, underpinned by a well-sequenced, ambitious curriculum that builds pupils' vocabulary, analytical skill and confidence as readers and writers. Pupils follow Pearson Edexcel International GCSE English Language and Literature, and Oxford AQA International A Level English Language and AQA A Level English Literature. The team is collaborative and experienced across KS3–KS5, with a strong culture of professional development, shared resource-building and high expectations. Staff and pupils benefit from a rich enrichment programme including theatre visits, creative writing, oracy and performance, with genuine opportunities for staff to shape curriculum and take on leadership across key stages.
