Plumbing & Fire Fighting Design Engineer

We are expanding our MEP Design team and are looking for talented **Mechanical Design Engineers – Plumbing & Fire Fighting (PL & FF)** at both **Junior and Senior levels** to join our Cairo office. ### Open Positions 1. Mechanical Design Engineer – PL & FF Experience:** 3–5 Years **Employment Type:** Full-Time 📍 **Location:** Cairo Office, Nasr City ### Key Responsibilities **Plumbing & Fire Fighting Design** - Prepare plumbing and fire fighting system designs from concept through detailed design and tender stages. - Design **domestic water supply, drainage, stormwater, sewage, and water distribution systems**. - Perform pipe sizing, water demand calculations, pump sizing, tank sizing, and hydraulic calculations. - Design **fire fighting systems**, including sprinkler systems, fire hose reels, standpipes, fire pumps, and fire water storage systems. - Perform fire fighting hydraulic calculations and prepare system schematics and riser diagrams. - Prepare equipment schedules, design calculations, layouts, and technical reports. - Select appropriate pumps, tanks, valves, fixtures, and related mechanical equipment. - Develop designs in accordance with applicable project requirements, codes, and international standards. **Design Coordination** - Coordinate plumbing and fire fighting systems with architectural, structural, HVAC, electrical, fire & life safety, and other disciplines. - Coordinate shafts, plant rooms, wet areas, service routes, equipment locations, and ceiling spaces. - Participate in multidisciplinary coordination meetings and resolve design clashes. - Ensure consistency between calculations, drawings, BIM models, schedules, and specifications. - Respond to technical comments and design-review observations. **BIM & Technical Documentation** - Develop and review PL & FF designs using **Revit MEP and AutoCAD**. - Prepare coordinated BIM models and detailed engineering drawings. - Prepare technical specifications, schedules, and tender documentation. - Support preparation and review of BOQs. - Assist with RFIs and construction-stage design clarifications when required. ### Additional Responsibilities – Senior Level Senior candidates will also be expected to: - Independently develop and review complex plumbing and fire fighting design packages. - Review calculations, drawings, and models prepared by junior engineers. - Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior team members. - Coordinate directly with discipline leaders, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams. - Participate in client and technical coordination meetings when required. - Resolve complex technical and coordination issues. - Support workload planning and monitoring of design deliverables. - Ensure compliance with applicable codes, project requirements, and company quality standards. - Review submissions before issue and ensure projects are delivered accurately and on schedule. ### Qualifications & Requirements - Bachelor's degree in **Mechanical Engineering**. - Relevant professional experience in **Plumbing and Fire Fighting Design**, preferably within an engineering consultancy. - Strong knowledge of domestic water, drainage, sewage, stormwater, and pumping systems. - Strong knowledge of fire protection systems including sprinklers, standpipes, hose reels, and fire pumps. - Good knowledge of relevant codes and standards such as **NFPA, IPC, UPC**, and applicable local requirements. - Proficiency in **Revit MEP and AutoCAD**. - Good understanding of hydraulic calculations and system sizing. - Experience with fire fighting hydraulic calculation software is an advantage. - Experience with **Saudi Building Code (SBC), Saudi projects, or Middle East projects** is preferred. - Good understanding of multidisciplinary MEP coordination. - Good command of **English**, both written and spoken. - Strong technical, analytical, coordination, and problem-solving skills. - Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering team and meet project deadlines.
