Backend Software Engineer

About the Role: Build backend services and integrations for client software and AI solutions using Python and FastAPI. Work with the Engineering Lead, frontend, AI, and DevOps engineers to build new systems, deliver new features and improve existing production systems. Key Responsibilities: ● Develop backend features, REST APIs, and integrations with internal, external, and AI services. ● Implement business logic, authentication, authorization, and secure data access. ● Build data models and queries using PostgreSQL and MongoDB. ● Implement caching and background processing using Redis, RabbitMQ, and Celery. ● Test and review code, maintain documentation, and resolve production and performance issues. Requirements: ● Strong Python skills and experience developing production APIs with FastAPI. ● Experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, RabbitMQ, and Celery. ● Solid API design, authentication, authorization, and asynchronous programming fundamentals. ● Experience working with microservices or modular monoliths and common software design patterns. ● Experience with automated testing, Git, Docker, and production debugging. ● Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to deliver features with other engineering teams. Additional Requirements for Senior Candidates: ● Experience designing production systems and choosing appropriate service boundaries and architecture patterns. ● Ability to produce high-level system designs and feature designs with clear integration contracts. ● Strong understanding of distributed systems, reliability, database performance, and scaling. ● Experience reviewing designs and code, improving engineering standards, and resolving complex production issues. ● Ability to break down complex work and provide technical guidance in collaboration with the Engineering Lead.
