Chief Accountant | Import & Trading Business 📍 Heliopolis, Cairo Are you a hands-on Chief Accountant who understands what happens financially from the moment imported goods are purchased until they are received, valued, sold, and reflected accurately in the financial statements? We are looking for an experienced Chief Accountant to take ownership of the accounting function within an established PVC raw materials import and trading business. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who combines strong financial reporting and controls with practical expertise in imports, inventory, landed costs, foreign currency transactions, and Odoo ERP. What You’ll Own Financial Accounting & Reporting Lead the day-to-day accounting operations and ensure accurate and timely financial records. Review and approve accounting entries before posting. Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes. Prepare and review the Trial Balance, financial statements, and management reports. Review accruals, depreciation, prepaid expenses, provisions, and year-end adjustments. Support the review and finalization of prior-year balances and opening balances. Import & Inventory Accounting Manage import accounting from purchase through final inventory valuation. Oversee Landed Cost calculations, including customs, freight, insurance, and other import-related expenses. Handle accounting for Letters of Credit (LCs), goods in transit, foreign currency transactions, and exchange-rate differences. Ensure accurate inventory valuation and accounting through Odoo ERP. Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies, negative inventory, and valuation issues. Reconciliation & Financial Control Review bank, supplier, and customer reconciliations. Monitor and clear GR/IR, interim, suspense, and clearing accounts. Strengthen accounting controls and ensure proper segregation of duties. Maintain accurate and reliable financial records across the accounting cycle. Tax & Compliance Ensure compliance with Egyptian tax regulations and Electronic Invoicing requirements. Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for external auditors and tax inspections. Coordinate accounting requirements related to audit and compliance activities. Team Leadership Supervise and develop the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams. Improve the quality and accuracy of accounting processes. Coach the team and promote accountability, financial discipline, and timely closing. What We’re Looking For Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. 8–12 years of progressive accounting experience, including experience as a Chief Accountant or in a strong supervisory accounting position. Strong practical experience with Odoo ERP, particularly Accounting, Inventory, and Purchasing modules. Hands-on experience with: Import accounting Letters of Credit (LCs) Customs and freight accounting Landed Costs Inventory valuation Goods in transit Foreign currency transactions General Ledger Financial reporting and closing Strong knowledge of Egyptian taxation and Electronic Invoicing. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Good command of Arabic and English.
