Network Engineer / Telecommunications Specialist / Engineer

Role Description We are seeking a technically capable and detail-oriented Network Engineer / Telecommunications Specialist / Telecommunications Engineer to support the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of network infrastructure and telecommunications systems. This role focuses on ensuring reliable connectivity, efficient network performance, and stable communication services across business environments. The successful candidate will contribute to network planning, infrastructure deployment, system configuration, technical troubleshooting, and ongoing network improvements. Working with IT teams, service providers, and other stakeholders, the role requires a strong understanding of networking technologies, telecommunications infrastructure, and modern communication systems. Key Responsibilities Design, configure, implement, and maintain network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN, and related connectivity solutions. Support the deployment and maintenance of routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, servers, and telecommunications equipment. Monitor network availability, traffic, bandwidth utilization, and system performance to maintain stable and reliable connectivity. Configure and troubleshoot network protocols, IP addressing, routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, and other essential network services. Coordinate telecommunications installations, connectivity upgrades, infrastructure expansions, and equipment replacement activities. Diagnose network interruptions, signal issues, connectivity failures, and hardware or software faults, implementing appropriate corrective actions. Support voice and data communication systems, including VoIP, IP telephony, fiber-optic networks, and other telecommunications technologies. Work with internet service providers, telecommunications vendors, equipment suppliers, and technical contractors to resolve service-related issues. Conduct network assessments, infrastructure testing, technical inspections, and performance evaluations. Implement network security measures, access controls, firewall policies, and monitoring procedures to protect communication infrastructure. Maintain accurate network diagrams, configuration records, equipment inventories, technical documentation, and maintenance reports. Assist with network capacity planning, infrastructure upgrades, system migration, and technology improvement projects. Provide technical support and guidance to internal users and relevant departments regarding network and telecommunications issues. Follow established IT policies, security procedures, technical standards, and operational requirements. Identify opportunities to improve network reliability, scalability, coverage, and overall telecommunications performance. Qualifications A diploma or bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications Engineering, Network Engineering, or a related technical discipline is preferred. Good understanding of computer networking concepts, network architecture, routing, switching, and communication protocols. Familiarity with LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and network security principles. Knowledge of network infrastructure equipment, including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless systems, and telecommunications hardware. Understanding of fiber-optic technology, structured cabling, VoIP systems, and data transmission fundamentals is an advantage. Familiarity with network monitoring, diagnostic, configuration, and troubleshooting tools. Knowledge of cybersecurity practices, access management, firewall configuration, and network protection methods. Relevant certifications such as Cisco CCNA/CCNP, CompTIA Network+, or other networking and telecommunications qualifications are advantageous but not mandatory. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to identify technical problems and implement effective solutions. Good communication and coordination skills when working with technical teams, vendors, service providers, and internal stakeholders. Ability to manage technical documentation, follow implementation procedures, and maintain accurate infrastructure records.
