Senior Database Administrator - UAEN

Job Purpose This role is responsible for overseeing the design, development, and maintenance of our organization’s databases. The ideal candidate will ensure that our databases are secure, scalable, and highly available to support our operations and growth. This critical role requires an experienced professional in managing the company's Data infrastructure, ensuring the delivery of high-quality and reliable IT services that support business operations and growth. Key Accountabilities Design, implement, and maintain enterprise-level database systems to support business applications. Manage and optimize performance, security, and availability of databases. Monitor database health, ensuring high availability, integrity, and reliability. Develop and enforce database policies, standards, and best practices. Identify and resolve database performance bottlenecks, tuning queries, and optimizing indexing strategies. Perform database capacity planning and scalability analysis. Troubleshoot and resolve complex database-related issues, ensuring minimal downtime. Develop and maintain database backup and recovery procedures. Implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans to safeguard critical data. Conduct periodic testing of backup and recovery processes. Implement security best practices to protect databases from unauthorized access, breaches, and vulnerabilities. Ensure compliance with data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, UAE Data Protection Law). Manage user roles, access controls, and authentication mechanisms. Oversee database migration projects, including on-premises to cloud transitions. Work with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra) for specific business applications. Collaborate with application developers, network engineers, and system administrators to optimize database integration. Maintain up-to-date documentation for database configurations, security policies, and troubleshooting guidelines. Train and mentor junior database administrators. Ensure database-related services are delivered within SLAs and meet customer satisfaction targets. Generate reports on database performance, security compliance, and capacity planning for senior management. Participate in IT audits, providing necessary database insights and documentation. Support cloud-based database solutions on AWS, Azure, and Oracle Cloud. Job Requirements Experience Minimum of 6 years of related experience in database administration and management. Expertise in disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity planning (BCP) implementation. Experience with Java, C++, SQL, and ETL for database integration and management. Strong problem-solving and communication skills in a technical environment. Academic Qualifications Minimum of bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field is required. A master’s degree in computer science, IT or a related field is a plus.
