Our Construction Phase Services team has a strong core team of highly experienced industry professionals who take a long-term approach to client management. Our unique market position and enviable reputation leads to strong trusted relationships and repeat business.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery and execution of consultancy services under contract with our clients. This role involves resource vs workload planning, KPIs, deliverables, and building rapport with clients and the wider consulting team.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the construction supervision and site delivery of infrastructure projects, ensuring works are delivered safely, to the required quality, programme, budget and contractual requirements.
Act as the senior site representative, providing leadership and direction to discipline engineers, inspectors and other members of the construction supervision team.
Administer the construction contract, including FIDIC-based contracts where applicable, ensuring contractual obligations, procedures and requirements are appropriately implemented.
Monitor and manage contractor performance, including progress, programme, resources, workmanship and compliance with approved drawings, specifications and project requirements.
Oversee the review of contractor technical submittals, shop drawings, method statements, materials, RFIs and other construction documentation, ensuring timely resolution of technical matters. Internal site-engineering responsibilities similarly cover submittal review, RFIs and contractor documentation.
Provide senior technical direction and resolve complex construction, technical and interface issues, coordinating with design teams, contractors and client representatives as required.
Establish and maintain effective QA/QC controls, monitoring compliance and ensuring non-conformances and quality issues are appropriately addressed and closed out.
Maintain strong leadership of health, safety and environmental performance, working with the contractor and construction management team to identify and eliminate or mitigate site hazards.
Review construction progress against the approved programme, identify delays, constraints and emerging delivery risks, and drive appropriate corrective actions with the contractor.
Lead coordination across relevant infrastructure disciplines and interfaces, ensuring activities are appropriately sequenced and technical conflicts are resolved.
Manage interfaces with the client, contractors, design teams, authorities and other key stakeholders, maintaining effective working relationships and addressing issues that could affect project delivery.
Actively lead site, technical and progress meetings, providing clear direction on key actions, risks, priorities and decisions.
Review and provide recommendations on variations, change orders and other contractual/commercial matters, working with the Project Manager (if applicable) and commercial team as appropriate. Internal site-engineering responsibilities also include change orders and contract modifications.
Ensure appropriate project controls and construction records are maintained, including drawings, specifications, change documentation, progress records and other relevant site documentation.
Provide clear and timely reporting to the client and project leadership on construction progress, programme, quality, HSE, risks, key issues and contractor performance.
Manage site-team resources and allocate responsibilities according to technical expertise and project priorities, ensuring appropriate coverage of construction activities.
Provide technical leadership, guidance and mentoring to the supervision team, promoting consistent application of project procedures, engineering standards and good construction practices.
Support project close-out, including completion inspections, outstanding works, defects, testing and commissioning interfaces, handover documentation and final completion activities, as applicable to the project.
