Position: Laboratory Operations Manager – Department of Engineering and Science Services - School of Sciences and Engineering Reports to: ESS Executive Director Purpose: The manager will ensure that Engineering and Science Services (ESS) laboratories operate efficiently with up-to-date software and hardware. He or She will advise on and select optimal hardware and software procurement for ESS. The job holder will maintain seamless technology and communications operations at ESS. He or She will oversee the smooth functioning of Moodle, online applications, and courses at ESS. The job holder will provide technology training to instructors and trainees for effective course delivery, and provide technical support to the Pearson Vue testing Lab. Responsibilities: Supervise ESS computer labs in New Cairo and Downtown, ensuring installation and operation of hardware and software, and maintaining them with up-to-date software and functionality Advice on technology issues related to selecting, ordering, receiving, and deploying equipment and software for labs, offices, and classrooms Ensure smooth operation of the ESS Computer-Based Testing (CBT) facility, call center, and voice and video communications between staff members at New Cairo and Tahir campuses Advise and train instructors and trainees on Moodle software for ESS courses and programs, collaborating with the technology support officer Set up Moodle sites and upload course materials for ESS courses and programs Ensure smooth operation and expansion of ESS's online offerings Collaborate with faculty and instructors to convert teaching materials into electronic formats suitable for online and blended instruction Create AUC emails for instructors and activate their accounts on Moodle Troubleshoot any IT-related problems Troubleshoot issues with computers, monitors, keyboards, mice, and other peripherals used in the testing lab Troubleshoot any software errors or bugs encountered during the testing process Regularly update operating systems, such as Windows or macOS, and software applications to ensure security and stability Requirements: Minimum Education Requirements: University degree, preferably in computer science or equivalent experience Minimum of five years of relevant experience Proven experience in related field Skills: Strong negotiation and problem-solving abilities Familiarity with Moodle and Banner, preferred Analytical and organizational skills Proficiency in English and Arabic languages This position is open until November 8th , 2026 Placement is based on the candidate’s experience and skills.
