Finance Manager – Commodity Trading & Petroleum Operations Location: Qatar Job Purpose We are seeking a highly experienced Finance Manager to lead the finance, accounting, reporting, and commercial finance functions within a commodity trading and petroleum business. The role requires strong expertise in commodity trade accounting, financial reporting, trade finance, treasury, CTRM/ETRM platforms, and financial controls. The successful candidate will partner closely with trading, commercial, operations, and executive leadership teams to provide financial insights, ensure reporting accuracy, strengthen governance, and support business growth. Experience within crude oil trading, petroleum trading, refinery operations, fuel trading, bunkering, petrochemicals, or commodity trading environments is mandatory. Key Responsibilities Financial Management & Reporting Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes. Prepare and review IFRS-compliant financial statements and management reports. Manage budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and financial performance analysis. Oversee consolidations, reconciliations, and statutory reporting requirements. Ensure compliance with IFRS standards, including IFRS 9. Coordinate external audits and liaise with auditors, banks, and regulatory authorities. Commodity Trading & Commercial Finance Review and validate commodity trading transactions throughout the trade lifecycle. Monitor and analyze trade-level and desk-level profitability. Oversee mark-to-market (MTM) valuation processes and hedge accounting activities. Review trade settlements, accruals, inventory valuations, landed costs, and trade-related expenses. Partner with commercial and trading teams to ensure accurate pricing, margin analysis, and profitability reporting. Evaluate commercial contracts and provide financial impact assessments. CTRM / ETRM Systems Management Ensure integrity and reconciliation between CTRM/ETRM platforms and ERP systems. Lead finance-related system enhancements, integrations, and automation initiatives. Support implementation and optimization of trading and finance platforms. Develop and maintain robust controls around trade capture, valuation, settlement, and reporting processes. Controls, Governance & Compliance Establish and strengthen internal controls and governance frameworks. Ensure adherence to accounting policies and regulatory requirements. Lead financial risk assessments and mitigation initiatives. Drive continuous improvement across finance operations and reporting processes. Leadership & Stakeholder Management Lead, mentor, and develop finance and accounting teams. Partner with senior management to support strategic decision-making. Collaborate closely with trading, treasury, operations, supply chain, and commercial teams. Present financial and commercial performance updates to executive leadership. Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. CPA, CA, ACCA, CMA, or equivalent professional qualification. MBA Finance or other advanced finance qualification preferred. Strong knowledge of IFRS and IFRS 9. Advanced expertise in financial reporting, trade accounting, treasury, and commercial finance. Required Experience Minimum 10+ years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, audit, or commercial finance. Mandatory experience within Crude Oil Trading, Petroleum Trading, Oil Refineries, Fuel Trading, Bunkering, Petrochemicals, or Commodity Trading organizations. Proven experience supporting finance functions within commodity trading environments. Prior experience working with traders and commercial teams on pricing, profitability, and trade performance analysis. Strong understanding of trade settlements, inventory accounting, landed costs, accruals, MTM valuation, and hedge accounting. Experience with CTRM/ETRM platforms and ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Dynamics 365, or similar. Previous experience with a Big 4 firm (KPMG, EY, PwC, or Deloitte) is highly preferred. Mandatory Industry Background Candidates must possess direct industry experience in one or more of the following sectors: Crude Oil Trading Petroleum Trading Oil Refineries Fuel Trading Petroleum Products Distribution Bunkering Operations Petrochemicals Commodity Trading Houses Candidates from construction, manufacturing, retail, FMCG, telecom, banking, hospitality, or other non-trading industries will not be considered unless they have direct commodity trading or petroleum finance experience. Big 4 audit/advisory experience combined with commodity trading or petroleum industry exposure. Proven experience supporting traders, commercial teams, and executive leadership. Strong understanding of commodity trade lifecycle accounting and profitability reporting. Experience implementing or managing CTRM/ETRM platforms. Demonstrated leadership, stakeholder management, and team development capabilities.
