You’d be part of the Southern Europe, Middle East, Latin America, and Africa (SEMELA) renewable department, working closely with our colleagues in the MEA Renewable segment. You will be working with diverse customers and colleagues and the role offers an opportunity to be involved in other energy technology related projects. You will be based in one of our Middle East and Africa offices: Dubai, Cairo, Riyadh or Cape Town and will report to the Renewables Team Lead. DNV is the world’s leading renewable energy consultant, and DNV’s SEMELA Storage Segment is growing quickly to meet the expanding demand for expert energy storage advisory services in the region. We support utilities, regulators, developers, owners and lenders with feasibility studies, technical due diligence, conceptual design & procurement support, and independent technical advisory services for either owner, lender or offtaker/procurer/regulator. In this role you will have a dual responsibility, focusing on both being actively involved in the delivery of (mostly) energy storage related projects and driving bidding processes for energy storage related opportunities in Iberia, being the first point of contact for customers with energy storage projects. You would be using your technical expertise and experience for supporting your colleagues in the team to deliver independent and owners engineering services across the MEA area. Most of the work will be desk based, but (national and international) travel for site and customer visits will be required at times (estimated at 5% to 20% of your time, depending on the projects you are involved in). Main Duties Will Include But Are Not Limited To Execute and/or manage energy storage related advisory projects, including technology review, technical due diligence, conceptual design, developing and reviewing technical specifications. Support in IPP, procurement , EPC/O&M contract review, PPA review, LTSA review, and performance guarantees, etc… Conduct and manage design review (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, HVAC), construction progress monitoring, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), testing and commissioning. Support and conduct energy yield assessment for BESS technologies considering augmentation and degradation using DNV modelling tools. Support the development and maintenance of services and products related to Energy Storage, report writing, presentations, courses, etc.. Support the technical training to the rest of the Renewables Section in MEA about Energy Storage. Extend your external network and identify, drive and facilitate sales and market led opportunities for energy storage e.g. generating leads, quality proposals and closing deals in cooperation with the Market Area Managers for the region. Analyze new business opportunities, gather market intelligence and ensure distribution of knowledge amongst relevant colleagues. Achieve sales as per targets agreed with the ME Renewables Team Lead. About You Position Qualifications: Master’s degree in a relevant engineering subject. 5+ years’ experience in the (renewable) energy sector, of which 2+ years providing engineering and/or consultancy services and 2+ years in the area of battery energy storage systems and applications. Familiar with Feasibility Studies, Technical Due Diligence processes and Owners Engineering Services. Technical expertise in battery energy storage technology, electrical balance of plant design & specifications. Familiarity with contracts (construction, supply, operations, interconnection, offtake, and/or asset management contracts). Dynamic and enthusiastic team player - co-operates with others, shares knowledge, experience and information, and supports others in pursuit of team goals Delivery and Results - completes tasks in accordance with expectations and schedule and with strong attention to details, understanding task urgency; able to juggle and manage conflicting work priorities to ensure deadlines are met. Knowledge of transmission & distribution networks. Knowledge of renewables (wind, PV) technology & project development. Security and compliance with statutory requirements in the countries in which we operate is essential for DNV.
