Production Manager – Soybean Solvent Extraction Plant

Location: New Damietta Industrial Area, Damietta, Egypt Employment Type: Full-time Work Arrangement: On-site Minimum Experience: 5 years About the Role We are seeking an experienced Production Manager to oversee operations at our soybean solvent extraction plant. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in soybean processing and solvent extraction, with direct experience operating or managing a Rotocel (rotary-cell/Carousel/Carrousel) extractor. The successful candidate will be responsible for achieving production targets, optimizing oil recovery and meal quality, maintaining safe and efficient plant operations, and leading the production team. Key Responsibilities Oversee daily production operations across the soybean solvent extraction process, ensuring safe, stable, and efficient plant performance. Manage and optimize the operation of the Rotocel/Carousel extractor and associated extraction and solvent recovery systems. Monitor production performance, extraction efficiency, residual oil in soybean meal, crude oil yield, solvent consumption, and utility usage. Ensure production targets are achieved while minimizing process losses, downtime, waste, and operating costs. Supervise production operators, coordinate shift activities, and ensure proper handovers and adherence to operating procedures. Monitor key process parameters, including temperatures, pressures, flow rates, and solvent circulation, and take corrective action when required. Coordinate with maintenance, quality control, and other plant departments to resolve operational issues and improve equipment reliability. Implement preventive maintenance coordination and support troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of recurring production problems. Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and process safety requirements, particularly those related to hexane and flammable solvents. Maintain accurate production records, prepare operational reports, and track key performance indicators. Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs), housekeeping standards, and continuous improvement initiatives. Train, guide, and evaluate production personnel to maintain high standards of performance, discipline, and accountability. Requirements & Qualifications Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in soybean processing, solvent extraction, or edible oil manufacturing. Direct hands-on experience with a Rotocel/Carousel/Carrousel (rotary-cell) extractor is essential. Proven experience processing soybean seeds and operating a soybean solvent extraction plant. Previous experience in a production supervisory or management position, with demonstrated ability to lead an operations team. Strong understanding of the soybean processing flow, including preparation and flaking, solvent extraction, miscella handling, solvent recovery, and meal desolventizing/toasting. Good knowledge of oil recovery, residual oil in meal, hexane losses, process efficiency, and production yield. Sound understanding of industrial safety, fire prevention, hazardous-area precautions, and safe handling of flammable solvents. Ability to troubleshoot process deviations, analyze production data, and make effective operational decisions. Good leadership, communication, planning, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in production reporting, recordkeeping, and Microsoft Excel. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Agricultural, or Process Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Experience with continuous-process industrial plants and 24/7 shift operations. Familiarity with preventive maintenance planning, quality control, and production KPI monitoring.
