Customs Classification Specialist

A Snapshot of Your Day As a member of the Customs Global Classification team, you will be based in Egypt and responsible for accurately classifying a broad range of products in accordance with the applicable Harmonized System and national tariff schedules across the Middle East on behalf of Siemens Energy (all Business Areas and Siemens Energy entities in the region). Within this responsibility, you will obtain the required data and documentation and determine accurate customs classifications in line with applicable regional requirements. This position reports to the Global Classification Team and works in close collaboration with regional Customs teams as part of a multinational organization. How You’ll Make An Impact Identifying the required information for customs classification and gathering this information from systems and/or colleagues of the relevant departments such as engineering, R&D and other areas. Analyzing product information and collaborating with relevant stakeholders to classify goods in accordance with applicable Middle East customs regulations, national tariff schedules, and technical classification requirements. Monitoring and controlling customs classification processes across the Middle East region. Ensuring compliance with applicable customs regulations in Middle East markets. Ensuring product classifications align with local customs laws, regulations, and requirements, as well as other relevant trade regulations across the region. Staying up to date on changes in customs laws, regulations, and tariff schedule amendments across MEA markets. Provide technical classification support for rulings and assisting with Country Customs Responsible with the preparation of classification-related documentation and supporting materials. Actively participate in team growth efforts. Recommending improvements to current regional classification processes when needed. What You Bring Bachelor’s degree in engineering or trade, legal or related, or equivalent experience. At least 5 years of experience in customs classification; experience with MEA customs and tariff regulations is preferred. Excellent written and verbal English skills are required; Arabic language skills are an advantage. Excellent knowledge of MS Office (particularly Excel). Experience with customs and ERP systems such as SAP, MIC, Integration Point, or equivalent systems is a plus. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and as part of a team. Negotiation, presentation, and assertiveness are attributes that describe you the best. Support organization's goals, values, and diversity.
