Lead Process Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Lead Process Engineer to take technical ownership of process engineering activities at a key gas processing support facility in Al Khor, Qatar, serving operations associated with the North Field, the world's largest natural gas field. The successful candidate will drive operational improvements, support major projects and provide technical leadership across the facility. Key Responsibilities Lead the process engineering team, establish technical priorities and oversee day-to-day engineering support and project activities. Monitor plant performance and identify opportunities to improve throughput, energy efficiency and product quality. Troubleshoot process and operational issues in collaboration with operations teams and provide practical engineering recommendations. Develop, maintain and update steady-state and dynamic process simulation models using Aspen HYSYS or equivalent software. Review and approve Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), heat and material balances and process datasheets. Identify and implement process optimisation and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant reliability, safety and operational efficiency. Coordinate with operations, maintenance, HSE and instrumentation teams to resolve process-related challenges. Act as the primary process engineering contact for contractors, consultants and technology licensors during project execution. Review engineering calculations, technical reports and design deliverables to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable standards. Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior process engineers and support their professional development. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline. A Master's degree will be an advantage. Minimum 10 years of experience in process engineering within gas processing, LNG, refinery or petrochemical facilities. At least 4 years of experience in a lead or senior process engineering position, with responsibility for leading or supervising engineers. Strong proficiency in Aspen HYSYS, including steady-state and dynamic process simulation. Experience with UniSim will also be considered. Extensive technical knowledge of gas processing systems, including acid gas removal, gas dehydration, NGL recovery and sulphur recovery. Proven experience in plant performance monitoring, process optimisation, troubleshooting and operational support. Demonstrated experience leading or participating in process safety studies, including HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA and SIL assessments. Strong knowledge of process engineering design deliverables, including PFDs, P&IDs, heat and material balances and process datasheets. Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, communication and technical reporting abilities. Professional proficiency in written and spoken English is essential. Previous experience working in Qatar or other GCC countries will be an advantage. Exposure to LNG trains, offshore gas processing facilities or large-scale gas production operations will be preferred. Chartered Engineer or equivalent professional engineering accreditation will be an added advantage. Show more Show less
