Role Summary: The Electrical Maintenance Technician is responsible for carrying out hands-on preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance of electrical systems, CNC machines, industrial equipment, control panels, motors, drives, and plant utility equipment. The role requires practical troubleshooting ability and a strong understanding of industrial electrical systems. The technician will work closely with the maintenance and production teams to minimize equipment downtime and ensure safe and reliable plant operations. Key Responsibilities: 1) Electrical Maintenance Perform preventive and corrective electrical maintenance on production machinery and plant equipment. Attend electrical breakdowns and restore machines to operating condition with minimum downtime. Inspect electrical equipment and identify abnormal conditions, wear, loose connections, overheating, or component failures. Carry out replacement and repair of electrical components such as relays, contactors, MCBs/MCCBs, fuses, sensors, switches and other control components. Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting of industrial motors and motor control circuits. Maintain proper records of preventive maintenance and breakdown activities. 2) CNC Machine Electrical Maintenance Perform electrical maintenance and troubleshooting of CNC Turning Centers, CNC Milling Machines, VMCs, Horizontal Boring Machines and related machining equipment. Identify electrical faults from CNC machine alarms and carry out appropriate corrective actions. Troubleshoot machine electrical circuits, sensors, switches, relays, contactors, interlocks and safety circuits. Support machine installation, shifting, commissioning and maintenance activities. Coordinate with engineers, OEM technicians and external service providers for major or complex equipment breakdowns. 3)PLC, HMI & Drive Support Perform basic troubleshooting of PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servo drives, sensors and industrial automation components. Diagnose input/output and control circuit faults. Identify drive and servo alarms and assist in troubleshooting. Check and maintain machine safety interlocks, emergency circuits and associatedelectrical systems. Support engineers during PLC, drive or machine control system modifications. Note: PLC programming expertise is desirable, but for this technician-level position, practical fault diagnosis and troubleshooting should be prioritized over advanced programming capability. 4) Electrical Panels & Power Systems Inspect and maintain electrical control panels and distribution panels. Perform routine checks on MCC panels, breakers, contactors and protection devices. Assist in maintenance of transformers, switchgear, UPS systems, generators, compressors and other utility equipment. Identify loose connections, overheating and damaged electrical components during routine inspections. Support safe isolation and restoration of electrical equipment. 5) Breakdown Troubleshooting Respond promptly to electrical and machine breakdowns. Diagnose electrical faults using appropriate testing instruments and electrical drawings. Identify the cause of recurring electrical failures and communicate observations to the maintenance engineer/team lead. Replace defective components and verify equipment operation after repair. Support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) activities for recurring breakdowns. Record breakdown details, actions taken and components replaced. 6) Preventive Maintenance Execute scheduled preventive maintenance activities as per the maintenance plan. Inspect electrical panels, cables, motors, sensors, drives, cooling fans and related components. Conduct basic condition checks and identify potential failures before breakdown. Follow machine and equipment maintenance checklists. Support TPM and equipment reliability initiatives. 7) Safety & Compliance Strictly follow Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) and electrical isolation procedures. Follow company electrical safety requirements and safe working practices. Use appropriate PPE while performing maintenance activities. Ensure electrical panels and equipment are maintained in safe operating condition. Report unsafe conditions and electrical hazards immediately. Participate in safety inspections and maintenance-related audits. Educational & Experience requirements Preferred: ITI in Electrician / Electrical Trade or Diploma in Electrical / Electrical & Electronics Engineering or related discipline. Additional technical certification in Industrial Electrical Maintenance, PLC, CNC Maintenance, Drives or Industrial Automation will be an advantage. Relevant hands-on experience in industrial electrical maintenance, preferably within manufacturing, machining, heavy engineering, Oil & Gas, or similar industrial environments. Practical experience in troubleshooting electrical problems in production machinery. CNC/VMC or machining-equipment maintenance experience is highly preferred. Exposure to PLCs, HMI, VFDs, servo drives, motors, electrical control panels and industrial automation systems is desirable. Ability to read and understand electrical drawings and schematics.
