Technical Lead - Manufacturing & Maintenance

Department: Digital Enterprise Platform Location: Egypt, Cairo. The Technical Lead provides end-to-end technical leadership for the design, development, deployment, and continuous improvement of secure, scalable, and supportable digital solutions. The role translates product needs into technical solutions, guides engineering teams, makes key technical decisions, and ensures alignment with enterprise architecture, Cyber Security, cloud governance, and the product roadmap. The Technical Lead acts as the technical authority across a portfolio of Azure cloud, hybrid or on-prem products supporting manufacturing operations. The role owns technical direction and engineering quality while working in partnership with Product Teams, Engineering, Enterprise Architecture, Infrastructure, IT/OT, operations, and external partners, the Technical Lead ensures high engineering quality, resolves complex issues, and supports solutions from proof of concept through production and ongoing evolution. YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Technical leadership: Set the technical direction for the product portfolio and guide internal teams and external partners through design, build, test, deployment, transition and continuous improvement. • Solution design: Translate functional and non-functional requirements into solution architecture, technical specifications, integration designs, engineering enablers and delivery plans. • Technical decision-making: Make and document decisions covering technology selection, solution patterns, security controls, integration approaches, deployment models and engineering trade-offs. • Azure architecture: Design and review Azure solutions against security, availability, performance, resilience, scalability, observability, supportability and cost requirements. Ensure solution designs align with enterprise cloud governance, FinOps principles • Product-specific engineering: Ensure the products use coherent patterns for identity, APIs, data, image processing, IoT connectivity, edge computing, mobile/web experiences, monitoring and operational support. • Architecture and governance alignment: Work with Enterprise, Platform and Solution Architecture, Cyber Security, Data, Cloud Infrastructure and IT/OT teams to ensure compliance with enterprise standards and approved roadmaps. • Integration and data: Define secure integration patterns across plant systems, Azure services, enterprise platforms and downstream applications, with clear ownership of interfaces, data quality and failure handling. • DevSecOps and automation: Establish effective practices for source control, code review, CI/CD, testing, release approvals, rollback, Infrastructure as Code, secrets management and traceability. • Engineering quality: Set standards for code, design, testing, documentation and technical debt; conduct architecture, design and code reviews and ensure sustainable corrective actions. • Operational readiness: Define monitoring, logging, alerting, service-level expectations, disaster recovery, support models, handover requirements and lifecycle plans before production release. • Troubleshooting: Lead root-cause analysis and resolution of complex issues spanning application, cloud, network, identity, security, data, API, IoT and deployment layers. Ensure lessons learned are translated into measurable engineering improvements • Team capability: Mentor engineers and developers, strengthen internal capability, promote knowledge sharing and reduce dependency on individual contributors and suppliers. • Stakeholder communication: Explain technical options, risks, dependencies and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, enabling timely decisions. • Innovation and optimization: Assess emerging technology pragmatically and recommend improvements that increase business value, adoption, reliability, delivery speed or cost efficiency. ARE THESE YOUR SECRET INGREDIENTS? • Education: Bachelor's or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience. • Professional experience: Significant experience in cloud architecture, software engineering, application integration or a comparable technical domain, including experience as a Technical Lead, Solution Architect, Principal Engineer or similar senior role. • Microsoft Azure: Strong knowledge of Azure solution architecture and cloud-native services. Experience should include relevant compute, storage, integration, API management, identity, secrets, monitoring and governance capabilities. • Application engineering: Experience working with edge-computing platforms, offline first architectures and distributed deployments in manufacturing environments. Strong understanding of modern web and mobile application patterns, APIs, event-driven integration, backend services, data persistence and distributed-system design. • AI and computer vision: Working knowledge of image ingestion, computer vision or OCR workflows, model/service integration, confidence handling, validation, monitoring and responsible operational use. • IoT and manufacturing data: Working knowledge of industrial IoT patterns, telemetry ingestion, edge-to-cloud connectivity, time-series data, equipment integration and the constraints of manufacturing environments. Experience integrating manufacturing applications with MES, PLC, SCADA, historians, maintenance and quality-management systems. • Identity and security: Strong understanding of Microsoft Entra ID, application identities, authentication and authorization, RBAC, managed identities, Key Vault, certificate management, security by design and least privilege. • Networking: Good understanding of Azure networking and private connectivity, including VNets, subnets, DNS, routing, firewalls, private endpoints and hybrid connectivity. • DevOps: Strong knowledge of Git, pull requests, code reviews, CI/CD, release management, Azure DevOps or equivalent platforms, automated testing and Infrastructure as Code. • Reliability and operations: Ability to define and review non-functional requirements covering availability, performance, resilience, scalability, maintainability, observability, disaster recovery and supportability. • Leadership and communication: Demonstrated ability to lead across multiple technical domains, make sound decisions, manage stakeholders and communicate complex topics clearly. Preferred Skills: • Experience in an international manufacturing, supply chain or IT/OT environment. • Experience with Azure Kubernetes Service, container platforms, serverless services, API Management, event and messaging services, data platforms and monitoring tools. • Experience implementing computer vision, OCR, AI-assisted search or industrial IoT solutions. • Experience integrating Azure products with plant systems, enterprise applications and mobile experiences. • Experience managing technical delivery across vendors, system integrators and internal engineering teams. • Relevant Azure, architecture, DevOps, security, data, AI or IoT certifications.
