Senior Legal and Technical Translator and Reviewer (English <> Arabic)

About the Role We are seeking an experienced linguist to translate and review legal and technical documents as part of our team of translators and reviewers. You will collaborate with our in-house linguists and freelance translators to ensure every document is accurate, consistent, and suitable for its intended use. Key Responsibilities Translate legal and technical documents from English to Arabic and Arabic to English Review and refine translations produced by other translators in both directions Ensure legal translations preserve the source’s meaning and effect, including its obligations, rights, and conditions Verify that technical translations accurately reflect specifications, units, part numbers, and safety instructions, using established specialized terminology Check numbers, dates, names, and cross-references against the source Give translators clear, constructive feedback and document errors in our QA framework Contribute to client glossaries, termbases, and style guides The documents you will translate and review include commercial contracts; Islamic finance agreements such as murabaha, ijara, wakala, and takaful; corporate documents; regulations; technical manuals and specifications; tender documents; SOPs; ESG and EIA reports; and health and safety materials. Requirements Arabic speaker with excellent English, comfortable working in both directions 7+ years of professional translation experience in legal and/or technical fields, including at least 3 years in a review or revision role A degree in translation, linguistics, law, engineering, or a related field Good knowledge of Gulf legal terminology and high familiarity with the UAE and Saudi legal systems Experience with technical content in areas such as engineering, construction, urban planning, energy, or logistics Proficiency in CAT tools (Smartcat, Trados, memoQ, or similar); Smartcat access is provided Familiarity with QA tools Ability to manage time independently and meet agreed deadlines Commitment to confidentiality (an NDA is required) Preferred Qualifications Formal legal training or an engineering background A specialized certificate in legal translation, such as a postgraduate diploma Experience with translation quality frameworks such as ISO 17100 or MQM Knowledge of DIFC or ADGM documents Experience with project-level technical content, such as EPC contracts and FIDIC conditions Experience building or maintaining termbases and translation memories What We Offer A fully remote role with flexible working hours Consistent, varied work for established clients across the region A supportive team with clear processes and the tools to do the job well How to Apply To apply, send your CV, a brief summary of your translation and review experience, and two professional references to [redacted email] Use the subject line "Senior Translator and Reviewer: [Your Name]".
